Labor of Love Birthday Gift

From the day Riley was born, he has been a "mama's boy". He loves his mom so much that when I go out of town he has to have 5x7 pictures of us together so he can sleep with them. So I decided that for his birthday I would make him a quilt. The only problem, I've never quilted and don't know how to sew! But I was determined! So with the help of my friend Heidi, she taught me step by step.
Riley was so excited when he open this gift (but I think I was even more excited). He looked at each picture and pointed out the one's that had just us together. I sat down with him and explained the story behind each picture and why it was chosen. Of course, Star Wars material had to be added because next to his family, Star Wars ranks #2 on his favorites list. All evening long, he has been carting his quilt along side him. He is even wrapped up in it right now, asleep in his bed.
I had so much fun sewing the quilt and knew he would appreciate the time it took to complete it. Riley is such a special child to me because he was my last baby. He holds a special place in my heart and knew I had to do something to show him how much I love him! I love my Ri-Ri!!
Happy 9th birthday son!

Happy 9th Birthday Ri-guy!

Our baby boy turned 9 years old today. I can't believe how quickly he is growing up! Riley loves having his birthday in October because we seem to celebrate all month long. Riley shares this birthday month with several other family members, so the partying is non stop! We had one party with the Horvath side last week, we celebrated today with just our family and then more celebration this weekend with the Denkers side. Riley loved his little cake from Baskin Robbins.

Wicked

I have the most amazing best friend!!! For my birthday, Shaeli surprized me with tickets to see Wicked at the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles last night, Oct. 18th. All we could say was AMAZING!!!!! We laughed and we cried. The message behind the musical was so powerful! I think every teenage girl and woman should see Wicked. I won't give anything away, but if you have not seen it...go, go, go!!! You only have a couple months before it is gone! Kelsey finally decided she wants to go so we'll be back there in November! I can't wait! Thank you so much Shaeli for an incredible experience! I love you!!!

Laser Tag

Remember the "old days" when we would play tag in the front yard with our friends and siblings? Those days are long gone! That seems too boring! I guess that's why Laser Tag was invented! Since the kids have been out of school for the past couple of weeks, we have tried to keep them active and off the XBOX 360. So we decided to go laser tagging and miniature golf with our friends, The Kersee's. After receiving instructions on how to operate the guns and vests, they were off to destroy eachother! Chris even got in on the action, which the boys just loved! As Chris says, "Our fun-o-meter was pegged" after two hours of tagging. The boys had a blast and we have the sweat stains to prove it!
