Midnight showing of Twilight

Yes, the Denkers women are obsessed with Twilight! Kelsey and I along with 8 of our friends weathered the long lines just to see the midnight showing of Twilight! Are friends who went along with our craziness! From left to right..back row: Kelsey, Claire, Ro, Fischer, Shelly, Kristi and Penny. Front row: Harli, Amanda, and Loma.
My sister in law, Amanda and I sat next to eachother and acted like teenagers. When Bella and Edward were on screen, our hearts raced, palms sweat and we experienced butterflies in the stomach with each touch! As Kelsey would say, OMG...we love Twilight. Twilight was great..not as good as the book, but man the chemistry was unbelievable. We will definitely see it again!

Our 15th Anniversary

On November 20th, 1993, I married my best friend. Chris and I met at a Young Single Adult Dance in Glendora. As our group of friends starting hanging out more often, we got to know each other better. We talked for hours on end and knew each other inside and out. Before we knew it, we were best of friends. Our first date happened to be on my birthday. Chris took me out to Bobby McGee's for dinner and from that moment on, I knew this was the man I would love for eternity. After dating a few months, I'll never forget the night he told me he loved me! It still gives me butterflies, even after 15 years !
I love Chris with all my heart. He is an amazing man who loves and cherishes time spent with his family. He's an incredible example to me, his children and those around him. He's my rock in the gospel and I'm thankful for the way he honors his priesthood. I'm also grateful for all he does for our family and truly is a blessing in my life! I look forward to many more years with him by my side. Happy Anniversary, Sweetheart!!

The Best Hot Dogs/Wicked

Last night, Kelsey and I had a Girls Night out. First on the agenda, was a trip to Hollywood to the legendary "Pink's" hot dogs. Pink's is located on the corner of Melrose Ave. and La Brea Blvd. It's is a famous spot for all the stars and has been around since 1939. You can order just about anything you could think of to top off your dog. Predictable Kelsey ordered the 10" stretch chili dog.
I ordered the Rosie O'Donnell dog. Not a fan of hers, but I loved the dog! It was topped with chili, mustard, onions, sauerkraut and bacon.
TO DIE FOR!!!
After our delicious dinner, we headed to the Pantages Theatre to see Wicked. This was Kelsey's first time seeing the musical and my second. Of course, she loved it. She thought Glinda was a bit dramatic but I'm sure should could relate...after all, Kelsey is 13! I'm so glad Kelsey loves musicals and operas! After all these years, I finally have a date!

San Francisco

Chris has been at the academy in Sacramento for the last week and has 1 more to go. We decided to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary early up in San Francisco. I flew up to Sacramento on Friday and we headed to Frisco early Saturday morning. Our first stop was to Alcatraz Island.

We took this picture right before the ferry docked. It was a normal day in Frisco...weather wise. It was gloomy and drizzling but that didn't dampen our spirits!
We went on a self audio tour, which was fascinating. Below, Chris is showing just how big the cells were, or should I say how small they were.

After our few hours on Alcatraz, we spent what seemed like hours walking around Fisherman's Wharf and Ghirardelli Square. Once we were exhausted and hungry, we headed back towards our hotel. We found a Joe's Crab Shack. It sounded great. They sat us at the window where we were able to people watch. It happened to be the best entertainment we found.
Across the street was a man they referred to as "Bush Man". He has been scaring tourists with branches. I know... sounds strange...let me explain. He has been doing this for 30 years now. He hid himself by using a trashcan that was up against his back and branches that covered his body. When people walked by, all he would do was touch them with the branch. To watch these people jump and I'm sure scream was hilarious! Chris decided that when he retires, we would move to a tropical island and do the same thing. Low overhead and much cash coming in. While we were standing there, the bush man made $25 in just 10 minutes!! AMAZING!
The next morning we headed out to see the rest of Frisco before heading back to Sacramento. Of course, the top of my list was the Golden Gate Bridge.
We also went to Alamo Square. This is called Postcard Row but for me, it was more commonly known as the homes from Full House. These homes have also been featured in several movies..chick flicks! The downtown skyline was breathtaking from here.
Another must was Lombard St..known as the "crookedest street". I could not imagine actually living on this street.
As we headed back to Sacramento, we stopped by the Oakland Temple. The gates were closed so we couldn't walk around the grounds (I'm sure due to Prop 8 protestors. We didn't encounter any protestors, thank goodness!) We didn't want to pass up the opprtunity to see this temple up close!
Our trip was amazing. We love to travel and spend time together! Thank you sweetheart for an amazing weekend!!

Halloween Fun..well kinda!

What a crazy Halloween for us! Friday night, we had our Ward Halloween Party, which Chris, Kelsey and myself attended. Ethan was at Dave and Buster's with his best friend and poor Riley threw up right as we walked out the door! YUCK!! Of course, he had to stay home.

The next day, we celebrated all of the October birthdays at my in-laws home. Thanks mom for taking this picture of our family!! Chris was a pirate, as you can tell and I was his wench!! Boy did he enjoy that one! When we were costume shopping, we had a tough time finding what we liked. Once I saw this costume, he had fun with it! As we walked up and down the aisles, he would yell out, "Get over here wench, this way wench" so on and so forth. He got quite a few nasty looks from the women there. Of course, I played along by bowing to his every need!

Kelsey was our little Miss Muffett, Ethan a convict (great costume for Chris' line of work) and I convinced Riley that his costume was from the video game Halo. He was sold! We had fun at mom and dads!

Of course Halloween came around and what do you know...party poopers! Not one of my kids wanted to go trick or treating or even hand out candy. I guess they are "too mature" for that now. Needless to say, Halloween night was uneventful, but we sure had fun the week before!

Twilight is coming!

Huge Twilight Fan!!!

O.K. I've seen this counter on other blogs and thought, "What's the hype all about?" Many friends have tried to encourage me to read the book over the past few months but once they explained that it was about vampires..I wasn't really interested!

Kelsey said alot of her friends were also reading the series. So, I decided to buy the first book in hopes that Kelsey would read it. Anything to get that girl to read!! Well, it sat on my nightstand for a few months just collecting dust.

Then on Tues. Oct. 21st, I decided to take a peak. I thought reading the book while at McDonald's ( I was watching my friend's little boy) would help to distract me from all the noise and screaming of the Play Place. Two hours went by in the blink of an eye.

Since then, I have read all four books!!! All 2,200 plus pages! I finally finsihed them about two hours ago. I have never completed a book in my life! My poor family has been neglected, so has my house! I took the books everywhere. While waiting at a red light, I would start reading! Eating dinner, I would read again! I could not get enough of Edward and Bella. The passion and devotion...undescribable!

I can't believe how amazing Stephanie Meyer is! What a brillant author! I am SO counting down the days until the movie hits the theatre! I've watched the trailer over and over again. My kids now watch for the previews on T.V. I'm sure they are trying to score "brownie points" with me! They really have been patient with me. Now I can get back to blogging, paying bills, cleaning house, etc.

If you have not read the series, READ IT! It is the most romantic, while clean (aside for some bloodshed!), love story. I am now a huge Twilight Fan!
